I'm New

Visiting a church for the first time can sometimes feel a little daunting, so we want to help you feel as comfortable as possible. Whether you’re exploring faith, looking for a church community, or simply wondering what happens on a Sunday, we’d love to welcome you. At New Creation Churches, you’ll find a relaxed and friendly environment where you can meet new people, explore faith at your own pace, and come exactly as you are.
What to Expect
We warmly welcome everyone to join us at our church, whether it’s your first time or you’re a regular attendee. Our services are relaxed and informal, led by our vicar, Matthew Thomson, with support from our dedicated Lay Readers and a small, friendly music group.
Each service includes prayer and Bible readings, with clear explanations and teaching, so everyone can engage and reflect. We celebrate Holy Communion every other week, and also offer midweek Holy Communion in both our churches each week, giving you plenty of opportunities to join in this special act of worship.
Our services typically last around an hour and a half, and afterwards, we love to spend time together over refreshments. There’s always tea, coffee, biscuits, and often cake, providing a relaxed chance to chat, catch up, and meet new friends.
Come as you are, we’d love to see you, and we hope you’ll feel at home in our welcoming community.

Getting Involved
There are many ways to be part of our church community, as much or as little as you like. You could join the flower arranging team, take part in fundraising events such as Strawberry Teas, jumble sales, or Pancake Day, attend Coffee & Chat mornings, or become part of Friends of St Andrew’s to support local community projects. Getting involved is a great way to meet people, have fun, and help build a thriving church family.
Joining St Andrews church has been wonderful. From the very beginning Paul and I have been overwhelmed by the warmth, kindness, and genuine welcome we received. Walking through the doors for the first time, we were met not simply with friendly smiles, but with a true sense of belonging and it quickly became clear that St Andrews is far more than just a church building (beautiful though it is!); it’s a community rooted in love, faith, friendship, and genuine care for one another.
Whether through shared worship, conversations over coffee, prayers in difficult times, or moments of celebration and joy (often copiously enhanced with cake!), we have experienced what it means to be part of a church family. There is something truly special about being part of a community where people genuinely care for each other and where faith is lived out so naturally in acts of kindness, encouragement, and service - it’s the true meaning of being family in Christ.
“I was nervous coming on my own for the first time, but everyone at New Creation Churches made me feel at home straight away. Rev Matthew and the wardens were so welcoming, happy to answer questions, make me a cuppa, and introduce me to others.”
Hi my name is Gemma, I am part of the ministry team in new creation churches and also sing with the worship band occasionally on the Sunday morning services. I love how inter generational we strive to be. I grew up in St Andrews Congresbury and have always felt supported within my faith in the church even when I was away at university. I love that we are inclusive of ages and individual needs. There’s no barrier to the church and a quote that’s always stuck with me is “the church is the community and not Just a building” God is for everyone and he died I the cross for us, regardless of whether we worship in a physical church.
I work as a special needs learning support assistant and am about to start my post graduate degree in Play Therapy. I love being part of a child’s journey and development, to make them feel accepted and valued and much like faith I love how family like and inclusive we are. To support and nurture someone on their journey. To walk with an individual and to spark conversations of faith. Whether that is round a table of food, in church or dancing to worship music at a Christian festival! We are all gods children.
